Could Justin Bieber Perform With An Elvis Hologram?

The creators of Tupac's Coachella hologram reveal other artists they'd like to bring back to life: Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson.

The world can't seem to get enough of that Tupac hologram from the Coachella festival. The late rapper's lifelike image left fans in awe as it performed alongside Snoop Dogg during his set with Dr. Dre.

The people behind the projection system that created the incredibly realistic likeness of the MC are now cooking up ideas of who else they might want to bring back to life.

Speaking to NME, Sanj Surati, head of music at Musion Technology Ltd, explained that one of music's greats could one day perform alongside one of pop's biggest stars. Asked whether there were plans to bring back Elvis Presley and perhaps have him perform next to Justin Bieber, Surati said it "would be a cool thing."

If an Elvis/Bieber collabo can't shake out, Surati explained there are others he'd like to see come to life: "Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, oh, and Michael Jackson would be the ultimate one," he said. "Maybe even Whitney Houston."

As for the future of the famous Tupac-ogram, well, Surati hopes it can be resurrected once again on a bigger-scale tour. "This is obviously a historic and exciting initiative that we're all witnessing currently, and it would make sense for them to bring it to Europe," he said. "And maybe take it to the rest of the world."

Since the debut of the Tupac hologram, fans have been wondering what other beloved performers could find new life using this technology. On the 10-year anniversary of Left Eye's death, there was an unconfirmed report from TMZ that TLC might bring back the group's sassy rapper for a "massive 2012 reunion tour." The group has yet to comment on the rumor.

Which artist would you like to see brought back to life as a hologram? Sound off below!

MetroPCS announces Q1 2012 results: total revenues up, new subscriber growth shrinks

Regional network MetroPCS has announced total revenues of approximately $1.3 billion for Q1 2012, up from $1.2 billion in the last quarter and up seven percent from the same period in 2011. Users on contract now total 9.5 million, with 16 percent of them making the move across to a smartphone. Net income has, however, dropped 63 percent since Q1 2011, with cost per user up 16 percent compared the same period last year. MetroPCS puts down to "retention expense" and the roll-out of its 4G network. The fifth biggest US carrier added over 131,000 new subscribers, but growth continues to slide -- it's down from 190,000 in Q4 2012. On the positive side, users are creeping onto the carrier's 4G network, with 580,000 LTE subscribers nowmaking up six percent of its total subscription base -- regardless of those creeping costs for unlimited data.

Nokia reportedly delays Lumia 900 release in the UK, cites high US demand (update)

Image

Despite remaining mum on how many Lumia 900s it's moved in the US, Nokia has been raving about how it's trying to keep up with demand for the flagship Windows Phone device. Consider us unsurprised, then, that the company has apparently delayed the phone's previous April 27th release date in the UK to "around May 14th," citing a need to keep the device stocked in the States. The news comes from V3.co.uk, which got the information from a Nokia spokesperson referring specifically to retailer Phones 4u. Hit up the links below if you'd like to catch the full spiel, and why not check out our review of a second time to solidify your decision while you wait.

Update: And just like that, Phones 4u has officially confirmed the May 14th release date and UD demand. The carrier will indeed be the first to carry the device when it launches, and notably, folks who pre-ordered early will also receive a free pair of Nokia Purity by Monster in-ear headphones -- this, on top of the already bundled-for-free Play 360 wireless speaker. You'll find all the details in the press release after the break and at the more coverage link below.

Gotye Explains Glee Diss: I'm Dinky, Too!

On second thought, Gotye doesn't really hate what Glee did to his beloved single, "Somebody That I Used to Know."

A few days after referring to that show's cover of the track as "dinky and wrong," Gotye clarified the meaning behind his comments to Los Angeles alt-rock station 98.7 .

"I thought it was really clever to transpose the song to two guys," the artist said. "It was a great idea."

So why did he refer to the version as dinky?

"This xylophone hook in my song - it's kind of dinky not just in the cover version but the original song," he said, being critical of himself and adding that his original words were turned into "the Glee cover I hated and Darren Criss is an asshole."

The track, of course, is everywhere in pop culture these days. Over the past few weeks, contestants on American Idol and a contestant on The Voice have covered "Somebody That I Used to Know."

What did you think of the Glee rendition?

President Obama test drives a Sphero on Boulder visit

Image

President Obama was in the Centennial State last night, hyping up an enthusiastic crowd at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Coors Events Center. Of course, he couldn't help but take some time to check out some some of the local innovation. The President took a few moments out of his busy schedule to play around with the smartphone-controlled Sphero RC ball, declaring "how cool is that," before demanding that the crowd, "give me some space to drive my ball." He also tossed out some superlatives like "terrific," after nearly driving it into a woman's flip-flop. Now that's a solid endorsement, if ever we've heard one. In all, it didn't last long -- the guy's got a country to run, after all.

Small Business Online Marketing Strategy

Small business online marketing needs to be studied if you want to be successful. The opportunity for small business online marketing is that it levels the playing field for you to compete against larger, more established companies.

And it can produce rapid growth like nothing you?ll have experienced before.

For example, holiday firm Airworld Tours added millions to their sales within 12 months largely from online lead generation, along with other ideas you?ll find in the marketing plan template.

In fact, several of my clients have spread from being small locally based business to operating nationally.? One client dealing in products with a four-figure price tag even receives orders from around the world now thanks to the strong Internet presence we designed together for his business.

But the challenge is that being successful online takes a great deal of knowledge.? Even selecting worthwhile companies to help you can be like an uncomfortable game of pin the tail on the donkey!

Most designers are so precious about the choice of fonts, colours and images that the exercise to create a new website becomes more like an art lesson than a business project to attract more customers.

What most designers don?t realise is that it?s the content of your site that will make the biggest lasting impression.? A pretty site is great for a first impression, but after that becomes largely a moot point if the content fails to impress.

Meanwhile the SEO and Adwords management services offered by most firms simply don?t work very well.? You end up paying over the odds to produce a small number of leads, while the few companies that master Internet marketing take the lion?s share of the business, leaving you with the scraps.

It?s very easy to blow ?10,000 or more on websites and design without getting anything back that can produce leads and sales.

To help you, here?s a series of steps to put you firmly in the driving seat to building an effective portal for your business online.

Why Your Website Isn?t Working

Most small businesses throw up a website quickly and cheaply.? The home page shows some badly taken photographs and has text that starts with the headline ?Welcome to our website?.? Nobody hangs around to read anything more, they go back to the search results and find somewhere that?s giving them a more useful result instead.

So the site (even if they?ve spent ?10,000 or more) still doesn?t produce much, if any, new business for them.

That?s because it?s a blind stab in the dark ? rather than being part of an overall strategy to produce new business, it?s simply a shop window without any passers by.

If youre marketing is going to produce results, you need to operate with a solid plan that gets results.

So let?s take a quick step back and understand the basics of marketing online.

How Internet Lead Generation Really Works

There are really three big elements to your online marketing strategy:

  1. Your website
  2. Your strategy to attract the right people to visit
  3. Your email marketing strategy to follow up people who don?t buy

If you build a great website with the ability to sell, but have no suitably targeted visitors, it may as well not be there at all.

On the other hand, if you?ve got a diabolical website with lots of traffic, you?ll get the same results.

Finally, if you don?t capture details of visitors and then follow up with email, the chances are that you?re losing out on and additional 30-100% of sales.

The secret is to build a lead generation website and to have a strategy for your traffic that will produce results.

Your Small Business Online Marketing Strategy

First, your lead generation website is designed to offer something attractive and useful to your visitors in return for their names and email addresses.

This lets you build a list of potential new customers and keep in touch with them via email marketing (also see my email marketing tips)

The plan looks something like this:

Website Designed with Quality Content and Lead Capture Forms

Design your website to have lots of engaging content.? It wil make visitors want to check out other pages and also make them far more likely to return.

On each page, include a box to offer people an enticing download in return for their name and email address.

For example, if you look in the sidebar, you?ll see I offer my download, ?21 Ways To Increase Your Profits in 30 Days?.? It?s also offered at the bottom of the page.

A Follow-Up Marketing Loop

Once you?ve obtained their email address, you can ethically send them email on a regular basis.

The idea is not simply to spam them to death with promotional emails.? You?re far better off acting as an educator to help them become better informed about your products and services.

Over time they will come to know, trust and like you.? They?ll be comfortably with the idea of finding out more about your products and services when they are ready.

Your emails mean that you are constantly reminding them of who you are, without annoying them with the hard sell.

A Traffic Strategy

Your small business online marketing strategy is completed with a one or several methods to drive traffic.

Depending upon your business, the most likely candidates to drive the best volumes of traffic will be Pay Per Click advertising with services like Google?s Adwords or Facebook?s PPC service and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) which you can learn to do very successfully yourself.? Finally, for certain sectors social media for business can be a powerful lead source;

However, don?t go for social media first as a rule, unless you absolutely know that it is suited to your business.? It can be a real time-sink otherwise and shouldn?t stand as the central plank to your small business online marketing strategy.
